Parking Lot
A Parking lot (called a car park in
countries such as Malaysia, Australia, United Kingdom and Ireland), also
known as "car lot", is a cleared area that is more or less level and is
intended for parking vehicles. Usually, the term refers to a dedicated area
that has been provided with a durable or semi-durable surface.
In most countries where cars are the dominant mode of transportation,
parking lots are a feature of every city and suburban area. Shopping malls,
sports stadiums, megachurches and similar venues often feature parking lots
of immense area.
Multi-Storey Car Par
A multi-storey car park (also
called a parking garage, parking structure, or parking deck) is a building
(or part thereof) which is designed specifically to be for automobile
parking and where there are a number of floors or levels on which parking
takes place. It is essentially a stacked car park.
Park and Ride
Park and ride (or incentive
parking) facilities are car parks with connections to public transport that
allow commuters and others wishing to travel into city centres to leave
their personal vehicles in a car park and transfer to a bus, rail system
(rapid transit, light rail or commuter rail), or carpool for the rest of
their trip. The vehicle is stored in the car park during the day and
retrieved when the commuter returns. Park and rides are generally located in
the suburbs of metropolitan areas or on the outer edges of large cities.
